Sales Engineer

Our client, a privately held manufacturer’s representative specializing in advanced industrial instrumentation and control systems, is seeking a Sales Engineer to grow a key territory spanning Buffalo, Rochester, and Syracuse. This role is focused on field-based, technical sales into process-driven industries such as water/wastewater, energy, food & beverage, manufacturing, oil & gas, and pharmaceuticals.
Location: Must reside in the Buffalo or Rochester, NY area. Travel approx. 50% for customer meetings, demos, and site visits.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage technical sales across a multi-industry territory
- Act as a trusted advisor to engineers and plant personnel
- Promote solutions from a broad product portfolio including SCADA, gas detection, telemetry, and vibration monitoring
- Partner with internal applications engineers and support teams for project delivery
- Maintain activity tracking, CRM records, and pipeline visibility
Qualifications:
- 3–5+ years of technical sales experience in industrial automation or instrumentation
- Strong communication skills and technical aptitude (engineering mindset)
- Based in the territory and comfortable with regular in-person customer engagement
- Bachelor’s degree preferred (engineering, industrial tech, or related field)
Compensation & Benefits:
- $100K base + $30K–$50K first-year commission potential

- Long-term earning potential as territory grows, reps in mature territories are earning $150-200k/year.
