Business Development Manager – Pharma Vertical
Our client, a privately held global manufacturer of industrial instrumentation and measurement solutions, is seeking a Business Development Manager – Pharma Vertical to drive growth across a strategic, high-value market segment.
This role is focused on expanding the company’s presence within pharmaceutical and life sciences markets—developing new opportunities, strengthening key relationships, and driving adoption across regulated, specification-driven environments. The position acts as a market builder, identifying and developing opportunities where the brand has not yet fully penetrated.
Territory & Location
- National scope with concentration in key pharma hubs:
- Remote role — must be near a major airport
- Preference for East Coast or Central U.S.
- Travel: ~50–60% (flexible, self-managed schedule)
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a go-to-market strategy for the pharma vertical
- Identify, pursue, and build relationships with pharmaceutical manufacturers, OEMs, EPCs, and system integrators
- Drive new business development and account penetration in a highly regulated environment
- Lead discovery conversations to understand customer needs and position value-based solutions
- Support early-stage project influence, including specifications and validation-driven requirements
- Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and technical forums
- Provide technical and commercial guidance to customers and internal teams
- Build and manage a disciplined pipeline aligned with long-term growth objectives
- Partner with sales, engineering, product, and marketing teams to execute strategy
Ideal Background
- 5–10+ years of experience in business development, sales, or market strategy
- Strong exposure to the pharmaceutical / life sciences industry
- Experience working within regulated environments (GMP, validation-driven processes, etc.)
- Proven ability to develop new markets or expand underpenetrated segments
- Background selling technical or engineered products/solutions
- Ability to influence engineers, operations, quality, and procurement stakeholders
- Strategic, data-driven thinker with strong execution skills
