Key Account Manager – Utilities / Power Transmission & Distribution

Our client, a privately held global manufacturer of industrial measurement and instrumentation solutions, is seeking a Key Account Manager to drive growth within the Power Transmission & Distribution (PT&D) utility market.

This role is focused on developing strategic relationships with electric utilities and key industry stakeholders while helping expand the adoption of innovative monitoring and protection technologies for critical electrical infrastructure. The position combines strategic business development, consultative sales, and key account management within a rapidly growing segment of the business.

The successful candidate will serve as a trusted advisor to utility customers, helping them improve reliability, safety, and asset performance while positioning a broad portfolio of technical solutions.

Location & Travel

  • Remote position

  • Preferred locations: Northeast or Southwest United States

  • Up to 50% Travel

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and grow relationships with electric utilities and strategic PT&D accounts

  • Drive new business development and account penetration across target customers

  • Position solutions consultatively by identifying customer challenges and developing value-based business cases

  • Serve as a technical resource for utility customers and industry stakeholders

  • Collaborate closely with product specialists, engineering, quality, customer support, and supply chain teams

  • Maintain strong pipeline discipline utilizing CRM and sales process tools

  • Provide market intelligence and customer feedback to support business strategy and product development

  • Represent the organization at industry conferences, trade shows, and utility association events

Ideal Background

  • 5+ years of experience within the Power Transmission & Distribution (PT&D) market

  • Experience selling directly to utilities and understanding utility buying cycles

  • Technical sales, sales engineering, or application engineering background preferred

  • Strong consultative selling skills with the ability to influence multiple stakeholders

  • Experience developing strategic account plans and growing complex customer relationships

  • Hunter mentality combined with strong account management capabilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related technical discipline preferred

  • Base salary plus 40%-120% bonus
